April 6, 1999 The debut album New Dawning Time by Gardener is released on Sub Pop Records. Gardener features Aaron Stauffer of Seaweed and Van Conner of Screaming Trees.
June 23, 1999 Matt Lukin, Mudhoney bassist ince the band's formation in 1988, decides to leave the band, only days after Mudhoney leaves Reprise Records.
July 1999 Mark Arm, Steve Turner, Tom Price, Tim Kerr, and Martin Bland enter the studio to begin recording the second Monkeywrench album.
October 26, 1999 Alice in Chains release their long awaited box set Music Bank on Columbia Records.
June 23, 2000 The Experience Music Project opens. Bands playing at the premier include Built to Spill and Screaming Trees.
Screaming Trees announced that the EMP shows were the last that the band would play. Mark Lanegan: "The other guys have families and other projects to work on. And I'm working on my fifth solo record."
